Message:I'm really excited about finding your website. My great, great uncle, Thomas Hawkins of Person County, NC, had a daughter Melaney Melina Hawkins. Melaney married Carter L. Jones, also from N. C. They moved to Whitfield County, GA, around 1850. Carter worked on the Western and Atlantic Railroad. Ephraim Hawkins (I'm fairly certain another cousin) also worked on the railroad. He and his wife were born in N. C. according to federal census records. (My g.g. grandfather and g. grandfather (from N.C.) were also named Ephraim Hawkins. Through a new-found cousin, Helen Tidwell (Rising Fawn, GA)I have put together more pieces of the puzzle. I would be deeply grateful if anyone reading this message could provide further information on the relatives listed above.
PS: I also had a cousin, James Henry Hawkins, who moved to Georgia, I think, about the same time Melaney and Carter moved there. My family has completely lost touch with his family.

Message:My great-grandfather William Pryor Nichols b 1820 in S. Carolina lived in Dalton until his death in 1890. His first marriage was to Martha Catharine Blackburn. Second marriage was to Elizabeth Curd. I descend from his last child, John William Nichols born in 1882 in Dalton, Ga. I'm searching for William Pryor's parents, possibly a J. Pryor and Echloe Caldonia Ray.
